“The client didn’t like the design!” — Sound familiar?

As UX designers, we’ve all encountered vague or subjective feedback at some point in our careers. But what does it really mean? What should we fix or iterate on? Over the years, I’ve learned that feedback isn’t just about making changes—it’s about translating opinions into actionable design improvements.

Here are a few common types of feedback and how I approach them:

  • Feelings-Based Feedback – Ask specific questions & show references to clarify expectations.

  • Biased Feedback – Align decisions with user needs, not just personal preferences.

  • Feasibility Feedback – Collaborate with developers & marketers to balance creativity and practicality.

  • Clear & Structured Feedback – The best kind! Specific comments = smooth execution.

At the end of the day, our goal isn’t just to get design approval—it’s to design a solution that serves users while meeting business objectives.
